The Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of the Cuban Republic presents its 3rd edition “Cuba: Science and Technology Indicators”, this edition includes information corresponding to 1995-2005. As with previous editions, this publication results from coordinated work by several governmental bodies and institutions in the country, which are integrated into a National Network of Science and Technology Indicators, such as the National Statistics Office, the Ministry of Higher Education, the National Commission on Scientific Degrees, and the Cuban Office of Industrial Property. There is a project currently in process to improve the system of science and technology indicators, in order not only to add new indicators to the subjects that are already traditional in these publications but also to gradually add new subjects of the current international taxonomy of science and technology indicators, which may allow broadened comparability bases between the Cuban system of science and technological innovation and the rest of the world.
